GCATT (Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunication Technology), the building I work in, is different from the rest of the buildings on campus. Well, it is somewhat far from the campus so that introduces a difference therein. Apart from that, I don't think that Georgia Tech owns GCATT. Being in GCATT is like being in a world of its own. We, the Network and Telecom Group students are like stuck on a island. But being there has its benefits as well. There are some exquisite eateries near about, the likeness of which you will be hard pressed to find.

I guess people in south have what they call, the "southern pride", so they take pride in anything that is native to the southern culture. For example, something

The Cuban at Kool Corner
as trivial as "boiled peanuts", nothing special, it is just regular peanuts in shell, boiled in salt water. Somewhat messy to eat, I enjoy this delicacy a lot. Anyway, there is the cuban sandwich place near GCATT. Many people from around get to this store for lunch. This sandwich place is located in a somewhat rundown place but has an identity of its own. The benefactors are all cuban and the old cuban gentleman that runs the shop is very jolly and funny. Apart from all that, their sandwiches are *really* good.

Then there "Bob and June's Kountry Kitchen". I have never been there because I strongly suspect is a predominantly meat serving place, but from outside it looks very southern. Ah, I was forgetting about the "Silver Skillet". It proclaims to be voted the best breakfast in Atlanta. Anyway, this place has been there ever since 70's. The original owner, when he bought it, found the place with an oldish look with many paintings all over the place. Rather than renovate it and redecorate it, he decided to let the place keep its character. Now southern waitresses serve in this restaurant. The food is good, but mind it, the accent (of employees) is so thick (southern accent), it is hard to understand.
