Friday afternoon we started for Tenesse. Arnab is current interning in Oakridge National Labs, Tenesse and we had been thinking of going to visit him for a while.
The journey was uneventful except for the fact that the three hour journey took 5 hours because we stopped for eating etc. Next day we went to Gatlinburg. It is a nice place, much like the Alpine Helen in Georgia, only much bigger and with a much wider selection of things to do. It is quite colorful place with lots and lots of shops (that you can find in any other place in USA), and some that you probably would not. Some of the southern delicacies are hard to find anywhere else except for the, eh, south. Homemade fudge, mill churned ice-cream and so on.
One note for the visitor, don't go to Ripley's 3-d theatre with "moving seats", it sucks! Universal studios at Orlando, Florida is a much better venue for such gimmicks (even though I don't approve of such things much).
Smokies ( Smoky Mountains) are very pretty. I have been thinking about going camping in the Big creek (?) for a long time, but haven't been able to so far. Now that I have a car, I think I will pay my respect soon.
